“Flame Trees of Donington”

“FLAME TREES OF DONINGTON” Acrylic on board 2015 (FOR SALE, framed)
Can you see the original reference from which the painting was painted? The four trees are on the right. Some people think that a good artist is one who can copy a photograph and produce an image which is indistinguishable from the photo but how boring would that be? I would far rather be creative than just a “camera with a paintbrush” and I far prefer my colourful image to the original.

The third tree from the left was tilted to make a more pleasing composition and the background turned into a village which, rather curiously, one can only see when the image is small (or viewed from a distance.)
Can you see the village now?
